Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of UA Little Rock Alumni Association, the Director of the UA Little Rock Annual Fund is responsible for the development and implementation of annual fund strategies and programs that include the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual gifts from trustees, board members, alumni, parents, and friends. The Director of the Annual Fund must have a convincing track record in fundraising, development, or sales, preferably with an annual fund program. This key leader has direct contact with diverse, passionate, intellectual, and extremely well-educated contributors and volunteer base. The Director of the Annual Fund will also oversee the UA Little Rock Campus Campaign employee giving program. An experienced and motivated individual with strong strategic and tactical management skills and an unflagging commitment to purpose will help the institution realize its long-term financial goals is imperative. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement a strategic plan of action with objectives, timelines, and evaluation plans for the Annual Fund program that includes identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of constituents;
  • Create and administer a program and activities to solicit gifts from trustees, board members, alumni, parents, and friends including personal solicitations, telephone solicitations, online giving platforms, crowdfunding, and direct mail programs for the Annual Fund;
  • Manage and solicit leadership annual fund gifts through the Chancellor’s Circle and other leadership annual giving societies currently established;
  • Develop direct mail appeals and recruit and train student callers for the Annual Fund;
  • Develop and implement giving societies and other gift club societies for the Annual Fund;
  • Work closely with Directors of Development and other departmental directors to ensure coordination with their respective fundraising efforts;
  • Use development database and report writing software to retrieve data and perform comprehensive analysis and manipulation related to all aspects of the Annual Fund program. and use statistics to evaluate current Annual Fund programs and to make recommendations for program changes;
  • Manage the UA Little Rock Campus Campaign, establish annual goals for employee participation in the Campus Campaign, and implement strategies to obtain these goals;
  • Assist the Director of Advancement Services in developing computerized systems and records that provide proper documentation and tracking of annual fund operations;
  • Ensure open communication with Directors of Development regarding contact of potential donors;
  • Responsible for writing and evaluating the Annual Fund program and reporting of program’s progress to Associate Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor semi-annually;
  • Oversee the acknowledgment and recognition of all annual fund gifts;
  • Develop and implement a plan of reporting of Annual Fund progress to the university;
  • Represent annual fund issues and promotes community awareness and support for the Annual Fund program;
  • Establish relationships and work collaboratively with the appropriate university staff and the external community to generate interest in the Annual Fund, including potentially having a presence in community and university events;
  • Represent the Office of Alumni and Development and/or University at on- and off-campus meetings, conferences, and seminars;

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment, but also to work independently and without close supervision;
  • Ability to work with an ethnically diverse constituency of donors, alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and student leaders;
  • Knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to use the Internet and database management systems;
  • Ability to use customer service initiatives to assist clients and campus community;
  • Ability to use problem-solving skills and program creation;
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle, hold a valid driver’s license, and have a good driving record to meet state requirements for operating a vehicle while on state business.
    Required Education and/or Experience

    A Bachelor’s Degree and 1 – 5 years of fundraising, sales, or development experience.

    Preferred Education and/or Experience

    Experience in annual giving for a non-profit organization.
